Vehicle Testing Center

What is a Vehicle Testing Center?

The word fitness is a very vital aspect of life. Be it your physical fitness or the fitness of the assets that you own. If you own a house, you need to maintain the same to increase the longevity of the house.

Likewise, the vehicle is another vital asset because it is a necessity in today’s day and age. All rules and regulations must be adhered to as well.

Point to note:

The roadworthiness certificate or the vehicle fitness certificate for new private vehicles is valid for 15 years and then has to be re-registered or renewed every five years. For a new commercial vehicle, fitness certificate is valid for two years; and renewed every year

All commercial motor vehicles need to have a valid vehicle fitness certificate together with the registration certificate. The rules of The Motor Vehicles Act of 1989 states; registration of the vehicle is valid only if the motor vehicle has a proper and effective vehicle fitness certificate.

Importance of Vehicle Fitness Certificate

  • To check and monitor the pollution produced by the release of smoke from motor vehicles. Keep in mind the continuous issue of increasing pollution due to the smoke emission by vehicles
  • To maintain and continue your motor vehicle in good and appropriate condition
  • Last but not least, to avoid road accidents which might occur due to the improper condition of your vehicle

What are the tests for vehicle fitness?

  • PUC
  • Sound Test
  • Speedo Meter
  • Side Slip.
  • Suspension Test.
  • Brake Test.
  • Steering turning angle.
  • Axle play detector.
  • Headlight centering.

PUC: Cars exhaust discharges are analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of its emission control equipment and to draw inferences on the condition of the engine. High levels of Hydrocarbon (HC) or carbon monoxide (CO) indicate that the vehicle is not using fuel efficiently.

Sound level Measurement: This test is used to measure the intensity of sound waves produced by a vehicle. This device is extremely important because it ensures that all sound exposures are below the threshold of what is considered safe for human ears.

Speedo Meter Test: This test is intended to determine the accuracy of the vehicle speed. It has two balanced rollers equipped with a speed sensor that will monitor the vehicle’s speed.

Speedo Meter Test: This test is intended to determine the accuracy of the vehicle speed. It has two balanced rollers equipped with a speed sensor that will monitor the vehicle’s speed.

Side Slip Test: In simple terms, the Drift or side slip Test Measures whether the vehicle is drifting or pulling to one side or the other from a straight line.

Suspension Test: This test simulates on-road conditions as it measures and analyzes the damping efficiency of the car suspension system, Its ability to absorb shocks ad vibrations. I also measure the imbalance between wheels on the same axle

Brake Test: A roller brake tester enables the simulation of brakes on the car on actual road conditions and captures data on various parameters that impact braking including braking force, ovality, and imbalance between wheels on the same axle.

Boogie Roller: This machine tests the speed of heavy commercial multi-axle vehicles with tandem axles.

Steering turning angle: It’s a computerized machine that can determine the turning angle of the vehicle by rotating the steering wheel to either side.

Axle Play Detector: Is used to identify wear and tear in ball joints, bushings, fixations, pivot points, link bolts, and shock absorber mountings

Head Light Aligner: A headlamp tester, also known as a headlamp aligner or beam setter, is an instrument to check the orientation and intensity of a vehicle headlamp beam to ensure that it meets a minimum standard for the country of use of the vehicle.

There will be a comprehensive exam report published online. The vehicle can get the fitness certificate when all these tests are passed; lead time is allowed to fix the test that failed during testing.
